Prior to the pandemic, there was a restaurant in town called the Love Revolution. And I loved it, but it was expensive. A couple of other Mexican/Central American restaurants have cropped up since but I found them to be horrible. Rancho Viejo appeared in place of the Pleasant Street Restuarant, which I also loved for surf and turf. I was a bit hesitant to try it because of negative experiences at the other new restaurants in town, but we finally tried it this evening. Arriving just about 6PM , we were seated right away. The music was a good volume, not intrusive. The table was nice. A bit of the decor is left over from it's Pleasant Street days, but who cares? The place is spacious and comfortable. The service and food were excellent. My husband got the chicken fajitas and they came on a cast iron serving plater, still sizzling and smelled fantastic. He got a generous serving of sour cream and guac with it. I had a simple combo of taco and enchilada. Both dishes were served with rice and re-fried beans. We did not order alcoholic beverages, so I cannot comment on them. Also, we did not order dessert (too full) but the choices looked delicious. For a dinner for two that came to under $40 (without alcohol) we gave a 50% tip. It is my new favorite local restaurant. And I think my husband, who does not like going out to eat, loved it too. He comment that he could not see anyway in which they needed to improve upon. I would take the lengthy negative review below with a grain of salt and try this place. I think you will like it.

Service is wonderful. We had the tableside guacamole that was fresh and super tasty. They serve chips and salsa to start. Ambiance was traditional and very comfortable.

Despite being super packed on the Saturday night we went the wait time was less than any other local place at 25 minutes. We waited in the car and when we came back in they told us they had called but they will seat us next anyways which was nice. After being seated the wait was well worth it - the food was excellent and the service was great. Ambience was nice and what I would expect from this kind of restaurant but I'll save any critique of that since it was very busy when we went. The margaritas were good and so was the blue shark drink I tried. We will definitely give it a try again soon!
